Gratitude is a powerful feeling that transforms our disappointments into hope. Last year, I, Saifa, participated in several competitions, giving my best each time, but my name was never called. Even though it was disappointing, I made a conscious decision to cheer for the winners. I believed that by celebrating their success, I was creating positive energy that would eventually bring good things into my life. I told myself, “If I think good thoughts for others, maybe one day I will have those same experiences.”

Although I did not win those competitions, they gave me valuable lessons. I learned what I could improve, and I realized what I should not repeat the following year. These moments helped me grow, not just as a competitor but as a person. I understood that every challenge, even without victory, teaches us something meaningful.

Then came the English speech competition. As the announcements began, I felt excited and nervous. When the third prize was announced, I thought it might be me, but my name was not called. When the second prize was announced, it still was not me. Disappointment crept in, but I reminded myself of my belief in cheering for others and staying grateful for the chance to participate.

Just when I was about to lose hope, they announced the first prize, and it was my name, Saifa Naaz. In that moment, I realized how powerful gratitude and positive thinking can be. Even when we feel like we have lost, showing kindness and hoping the best for others creates a path for unexpected success and joy. I learned that every experience, whether it is a win or a loss, is valuable. I will continue to trust the process, knowing that good things are always closer than we think.
