A few years ago, I found myself stuck in a cycle of frustration. I was constantly overwhelmed—by work, responsibilities, and the feeling that no matter how much I achieved, it was never enough. My mind always fixated on what was missing instead of what was already there. I’d scroll through social media, comparing my life to the curated highlights of others, and end up feeling like I was falling behind.

Then, a close friend suggested something simple: start practicing gratitude. She told me that even small moments of appreciation could shift how I saw my life. Skeptical but willing, I downloaded a gratitude journal app and set a goal to write down three things I was grateful for each day.

At first, it felt unnatural. I’d jot down things like “coffee” or “a good song on the radio.” But over time, my lists began to deepen. I started noticing the moments I had overlooked before—the way my husband made me laugh after a long day, the comfort of my niece’s tiny hand in mine, the quiet satisfaction of completing a project. Slowly, my focus shifted. Instead of thinking about what I lacked, I started recognizing how much I already had.

Gratitude didn’t erase my struggles, but it transformed my outlook. It made me more resilient, more present, and more open to joy. Now, when challenges arise, I remind myself to look for what’s still good and what’s still worth appreciating. That simple shift has truly changed everything.
