Governor Mikie Sherrill today joined the Department of Community Affairs (DCA), Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), and military veterans from across New Jersey at the Trenton War Memorial to announce that, through the Bringing Veterans Home initiative, the State created a coordinated support system that fully funds housing resources so no veteran has to go homeless. The initiative makes veteran homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in New Jersey. Now, more veterans enter housing in New Jersey than enter homelessness each month, and the initiative is sustaining this performance consistently.

On his first day in office, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed three executive orders to fulfill his housing agenda, including the development of the Land Inventory Fast Track. LIFT is described as a “multi-agency effort to identify city-controlled land that is suitable for housing.” Exactly eight months later, the mayor has broken ground on his large-scale affordable housing project, which will ultimately utilize more than 100 city-owned sites to build an estimated 50,000 new affordable homes for New Yorkers. Along with the ground-breaking is a new interactive tracking tool, aptly called the LIFT Tracker, which is a map showing real-time progress on these housing projects.

NYC Delivery Workers Earned $104M Extra In Tips Under New City Law

Delivery workers have endured it all this past year: extreme heat, flooded streets, and toxic air. But now, the city can finally deliver some good news to them. Mayor Zohran Mamdani, alongside New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Samuel Levine, are set to release a new report Wednesday showing that the estimated 70,000 delivery workers earned a collective $104 million in additional tips. The windfall of tips comes after a city law cracking down on deceptive tipping practices by app-based delivery companies took effect in January. Delivery workers are now on pace to earn an additional $184 million annually in tips. That’s approximately $2,287 more per worker.
