History is in the making during this long, astrologically hot summer. We face a glittering smorgasbord of celestial events. There are flavors for every palette. Some are sublimely delicious, others leave a bitter aftertaste. Seismic planetary sign changes, numerous retrogrades and two late summer eclipses sustain a stream of highs and lows. Many unprecedented, eye opening, heart stopping, and soul stirring happenings are in store.

During the wee hours of the morning on Monday, July 7th, freedom loving Uranus enters Gemini. With its eighty-four year orbit around the Sun, Uranus last visited the Sign of the Twins during the World War II era, from the summer of 1941 until the spring of 1949. The two preceding transits of Uranus through Gemini coincided with the American Civil War and before that, back when it was first discovered in 1781, the American Revolution. Uranus’ longtime association with liberty, equality, and fraternity has endured. From July 7th until November 7th of this year Uranus will be in Gemini. Look for bold ideas as well as hints of future trends. Come November, a retrograde will carry the maverick planet back into Taurus until late April of 2026.

Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, the three outermost planets in our solar system, reflect ongoing changes in humankind’s collective consciousness. These distant, transpersonal planets mirror prevailing social, cultural and political trends. Seen from both cosmic and historical perspectives, the gravity of the times we are in can be assessed. Neptune is now in early Aries, the impulsive, headstrong sign it entered at the onset of the Civil War. It too will retrograde this summer and return to Pisces during October.

The third of the outer planets, Pluto, is in Aquarius, the sign it occupied during both the American War for Independence and the French Revolution. Pluto has a unique way of exposing corruption, hypocrisy and abuses of power, and dramatically reshaping public opinion. Ultimately, Pluto is about power, who has it and how it is used. Aquarius represents friendship and community, the sense that our lives intertwine with others.

Democracy has never been just a spectator sport. Citizens have to participate for it to work. Voting alone is not enough. Civic duty includes studying local, national and global issues. Then elected representatives must be made aware of voters’ opinions and needs, and act on their demands. Sadly, in today’s world none of these things are easily done. The era of fake news, runaway social media disinformation, bloggers, billionaires buying politicians and voting irregularities has eroded trust in democratic processes. Yet, I am optimistic.

Jupiter’s recent (June 9th) entry into Cancer, the USA’s Sun sign, bodes well for the nation’s patriotic resolve and fortunes. Unlike the Civil War era, this time around Neptune is conjunct Saturn, the ultra-realistic Lord of Karma. The two will stay in close proximity until next spring, all the while on the Pisces/Aries cusp. We may mourn losses of innocence as ideals and fantasies are being shattered but we must press on. The task ahead lies in rebuilding our dreams. This summer is the time to be aware of clues as to where things are heading. While we rightfully savor the season’s leisure activities, know that every day choices and the dreams we dream are shaping the future.

The Sun In Cancer

The Summer Solstice chart for June 20th at 10:42PM is complicated. Most auspiciously the newly minted Cancer Sun is in a conjunction with protective Jupiter. The pairing is an omen of happiness, prosperity, integrity, loyalty and luminous good will. However, there is a catch. The magnanimous duo is at odds with Saturn and Neptune in early Aries. Fears, time constraints, and misplaced ideals can be a drag on progress. Slowdowns have upsides. Priorities can be clarified and a more careful, measured approach increases effectiveness and efficiency.

Conflicting trends continue into the weekend of the 21st and 22nd. Mars calls for spirited action and expression via a passionate sextile to Jupiter while the Sun remains at loggerheads with Saturn and Neptune. The tides soon turn. Hopes are revived when the Sun conjuncts Jupiter on Tuesday, June 24th. The Cancer new Moon follows early Wednesday morning. Assisted by Mars and hindered by Saturn and Neptune, this new Moon suggests it is best to proceed with thoughtful compassion.

Favorable trends dominate the end of the week. Mercury enters big-hearted Leo on Thursday, June 26th as the celestial momentum builds. One note of caution. Because Mercury is opposite Pluto during the last weekend of June, tact and decorum are recommended. Two heads can be better than one, but disagreements are likely to be heated. Speak to others as you wish them to speak to you.

July arrives with more mixed messages from on high. The waxing Moon helps spread good cheer on Tuesday, July 1st but the evening hours could see a breakdown in communications. Be patient and remain calm. A grand trine configuration, comprised of the Moon, Venus, Uranus and Pluto, bodes well for a late night reconciliation. Keeping everyone happy can be challenging under Wednesday, July 2nd’s first quarter Libra Moon. A change of plans is likely.

The 4th of July holiday features a spectacular late morning conjunction of Venus and freedom-loving Uranus. Celebrants of all persuasions are passionate about their unique qualities, as well as the unifying principles of friendship and humanitarian ideals. Astrologically, it’s a lively day. Venus enters flirtatious Gemini before noon and Neptune turns retrograde during the early evening. Venus’ harmony with Saturn, Neptune and Pluto makes for a weekend of continuing fun and celebration. Even with the thunder of fireworks, Neptune’s about face can spotlight the drawbacks of unrealistic plans.

The full Buck Moon in Capricorn is exact at 4:37PM EDT on Thursday, July 10th. Security issues are on many minds. A quest for stability or safety gives rise to unexpected partnerships. After the full Moon, a mid-month quiet sets in but additional changes are soon in progress. Saturn begins its lengthy retrograde on Saturday the 13th. Opportunities may appear to be slipping away, but Saturn’s delays usually turn out to be only temporary. During the coming months deeper commitments and patience could be necessities.

On Friday, July 18th mental Mercury, now in fiery Leo, begins a three week long retrograde. The Messenger planet stations in a favorable sextile angle with Venus. This is an excellent time to connect with pals or make travel arrangements. Thinking about the past can stir fond memories.

The Sun In Leo

The morning of Tuesday, July 22nd sees the Sun blaze into fiery Leo where she promptly aligns with Uranus, Saturn and Neptune. At the same time, Venus is testing Mars. Ingenious ideas and hopeful thoughts are plentiful, although restless partners may be unimpressed. Help is on the way with Thursday, July 24th’s edifying new Moon in early Leo. This is an excellent time to launch ambitious projects. The spirit of cooperation plays a huge role during the coming weeks. In both personal and professional lives, helping others realize their dreams provides genuine, soulful contentment.

Minutes before midnight on Wednesday, July 30th Venus slips into nurturing Cancer. Hearts swell with deeply rooted love for people and places and country. On Thursday evening, the Sun’s month-ending conjunction with retrograde Mercury prompts poignant memories. Reunions can be both delightful and enlightening.

The 1st of August has its challenges. The morning’s first Quarter Scorpio Moon can stir up normally repressed feelings. Venus navigates difficult waters, testing dour Saturn and wishful Neptune. The midday hours are the brightest, but pensive moods linger into the weekend. Lending a helping hand Saturday afternoon or evening feels inspiring. Sunday, August 3rd brings more easy-going, sociable sailing.

During the week of Monday, August 4th, life moves along at a steady, if sometimes uneven pace. The Moon is waxing. Tactical adjustments will likely have to be made on Tuesday the 5th. Wednesday, August 6th sees Mars slip into Libra, a placement that requires the discerning use of will power and timely personal initiative. Think creatively. Be ready to make daring moves during the latter half of the week. With decidedly mixed trends on Thursday and Friday, progressive forces are likely to encounter resistance from less nimble minds. Overcoming obstacles requires using an array of skills. Rethink challenges. See them as opportunities for learning and growth. Avoid those uncompromising souls who simply refuse to make any concessions.

During Friday afternoon, August 8th, Mars forms a dynamic trine to Uranus, part of an inspiring air sign grand trine configuration that also includes Pluto. Ideally, the highest good for the greatest number of people can be served. Friday night soirees are memorable. The full Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius sails high overhead as the weekend begins. During the wee hours of Saturday morning the Moon is full. The blend of harmonious and challenging alignments has myriad effects. Some souls are empowered, others feel dejected. A Venus/Jupiter conjunction fills other hearts with gladness and gratitude. Engage with partners, with life, with doing things that enrich, empower and bring happiness.

Dramatic moments continue in the coming week. Mercury resumes forward motion on Monday, August 11th. Those who have been sitting on the proverbial fence are ready to make a choice. Monday evening’s Saturn/Uranus sextile offers a healthy perspective on relative risks and potential gains. Venus reaches her exact conjunction with Jupiter during the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Proceed with confidence. There are wrinkles to iron out on Thursday, August 14th, but Mercury’s sextile with Mars promotes bold and successful action.

Friday, the 15th, offers promising trends as we head into the weekend, but the late night last quarter Moon energies can be a mood spoiler. Do not be stubborn. Take an “as you wish” approach with partners. Saturday, August 16th’s nightlife is effervescent. Sunday is far more mellow. Monday, August 18th through Thursday, the 21st, are perfect days for late summer escapades.

The Sun In Virgo

The summertime vibe shifts as the Sun enters changeable Virgo during the late afternoon hours of Friday, August 22nd. Subtle hints of coming seasonal changes are in the air. Pragmatists think about the upcoming return to school or post vacation work schedules. A couple of hours after midnight on Saturday, the Moon is new in Virgo. The combined Sun and Moon are in a testing square angle to Uranus. The unstable energies emphasize the ephemeral nature of reality. Change is the only constant. Flexibility is mandatory this weekend. Plans may be disrupted and the earth itself may shake.

Venus enters regal Leo at midday on Monday, the 25th. Once in the flamboyant sign of creativity, theater and fun, the Goddess of Love harmonizes with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Artistic inspirations and romantic aspirations flow steadily on both Monday and Tuesday, although some couples may experience trying times Tuesday evening when Venus tests Pluto. Get closer, if you can.

Sunday, September 21st, the final full day of summer is momentous. The revelatory possibilities are enormous. The healing potential is also great. Service to others is at the heart of today’s stars.

Uranus and Neptune form a magical sextile on Thursday, August 28th. Humanitarian ideals are well supported, drawing widespread support. If you plan to travel for the holiday weekend, get an early start. Heavy Friday afternoon traffic moves slowly under a lunar square to Mercury. The evening of Saturday the 30th is a fine one for socializing, but tensions increase later that night with the tightening square between the first quarter Moon in Sagittarius and the Virgo Sun.

During the early morning hours of Monday, September 1st, Saturn retrogrades back into the emotional depths of Pisces. A familiar sadness or mournful sense of loss can be noticeable. We are entering late summer eclipse season, another potential contributor to ongoing uncertainties. Challenging midweek aspects add to the confusion. Take time to get facts straight before making decisions. The night of Thursday, September 4th features Mars’ square to Jupiter. Agree to disagree if a conversation gets heated. Some leaders make inflammatory statements, while others boast and exaggerate. Life spills onward as the weekend nears.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, September 6th, eccentric Uranus turns retrograde in early Gemini. Opinions may change unexpectedly. Surprises are likely throughout the day. Moods shift from minute to minute. The Pisces full Moon/lunar eclipse is exact during the afternoon of Sunday, September 7th. This eclipse can reveal unpleasant truths as well as true intentions. It may also occasion exemplary behavior that shows a high degree of poise. Principled people abide by just laws and show compassion and respect for others. Bear in mind, things begun just before or after an eclipse often take an unexpected course.

The week of September 8th gets off to a solid start. An approaching solar sextile to Jupiter fosters warm feelings and optimism. Friday, September 12th, is a notably upbeat day. Evening gatherings are friendly affairs. Stresses increase late Saturday. The first quarter Moon can contribute to a restless night. Sunday brunches are delicious fun, but tensions return later in the evening. Be gentle with sensitive hearts.

Monday, September 15th sees a gregarious sextile between Venus and Mars. The auspicious pairing favors scholars, business people and all devotees of living fully. Mercury’s midweek opposition to retrograde Saturn can bring an unfinished project back to life. A challenging, unsettled issue may also need attention. Early on the morning of Thursday the 18th Mercury arrives in Libra and opposes Neptune. Some matters remain up in the air but late that night a brilliant solution could come to mind.

Traveling together in the sky, the Moon and Venus both enter Virgo on the morning of Friday, September 19th. The happy duo make a pretty sight. Savor their uplifting impact, because they soon are testing unstable Uranus. Partnerships may require extra care on both Friday and Saturday. An unforeseen breakup, change of plans or expense are possibilities.

Sunday, September 21st, is momentous. This final full day of summer features the Virgo new Moon/solar eclipse. This one is special. The late afternoon conjunction of the Sun and Moon, at the pivotal last degree of Virgo, opposes Saturn and Neptune. The new Moon also forms one corner of a grand trine alignment with Uranus and Pluto. The revelatory possibilities are enormous. The healing potential is also great. Service to others is at the heart of today’s stars. As you set plans in motion be prepared to make on the fly adjustments.

Mars transits from Libra into Scorpio before dawn on Monday. Stay aware of and be receptive to the needs of partners during the coming weeks. Cooperation can be a beautiful thing. Every summer ends with a brief period of balance between the forces of light and darkness. We go through one to know the other. Keep looking up!
